About Avram

With almost 25 years of UX experience, Avram is prepared for any challenge. He has worked with companies of all sizes, including early stage startups. Over his career he has worked for Verizon Labs, Avaya, The MITRE Corporation, Kenexa, and Homesite Insurance, with experience in e-Commerce, dashboard design, financial services, HR technology, insurance, and telecommunications.

In the deeps of time, Avram worked in customer service and marketing communications in the mutual fund industry. From marketing, he transitioned into technical writing because tech writing was more straight forward and the point was to make information clearer and easier to understand, not to obfuscate bad news.

Along the way, he managed a documentation team at PCi Corporation. He did not know that there was a profession like what is now called UX until he attended the STC conference in 2000. ne of the presenters told him about the Human Factors in Information Design MS program at Bentley University, which coincidentally, happened to be three miles from his house. Avram graduated from Bentley in 2004 and has been working on UX projects ever since.

When he is not working Avram spends time with his wife, Marjorie and his daughter, Sarah. They enjoy hiking, bicycling, and snowshoeing, and going to movies and the theatre.

Avram has been an avid cyclist for more than 25 years. He is a fan of Star Trek in all of it’s incarnations, Sherlock Holmes (including Sherlock), and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He has lost track of how many times he’s read The Lord of the Rings and he occasionally does online searches for “will there be more firefly”.
